Entomologist, PhD student
Guelph, Ontario
Nasidoe/entobird (They/Them) is a PhD candidate and lecturer at the University of Guelph, Canada. Their life long passion for biology has taken them around the globe, leading field expeditions in the rain forests of Costa Rica, and across the wilderness of Canada and the United States. Starting at the New Brunswick Museum at a young age they have worked in zoology, botany, mycology, and microbiology for over a decade, but currently focus on entomology. As a peer reviewed author they have named numerous new species, written about rare and endangered organisms, and documented the occurrence of the fascinating behaviors of cryptic species. They work with their university and community to bring awareness to the LGBTQ2SIA+ community, getting local LGBTQ2SIA+-friendly spaces recognized in their city, and working on LGBTQ2SIA+ awareness videos for staff, faculty, and students at the University of Guelph. While not in the lab, doing outreach, or working they are either rock climbing, tending to their home ant colonies and plants, or sharing science through the furry fandom as a science communicator on twitter, youtube, tiktok, other social media, and hosting various live events.
